Categories
The income and expense classification behind the ledger.
Categories
Income and expense categories under Admin → Categories (/dashboard/categories) — the classification system the whole ledger is built on.
Why categories matter
Every transaction, expense, sale and budget item belongs to a category. Categories are what make budgets, reports and the transaction ledger readable.
Managing categories
- Create and edit categories with a name (and type where relevant — income vs expense).
- Permission-gated — category management respects user permissions (view vs manage).
- Used everywhere: expenses, transactions, sales, budgets and reports.
Typical setup
- Create the income categories you invoice under (e.g. Services, Products, Rentals).
- Create the expense categories you pay under (e.g. Wages, Fuel, Materials, Admin).
- Attach categories to expenses, banks and budgets as you go.
